Original Fish Hut

This may be an image of the original fish hut.  If not, it certainly ranks up there as one of earliest fish huts.  This one was made of palmetto leaves and is occupied by a Cuban family in the late 1800s.  In later years the Punta Gorda Fish Company built sturdier fish huts.  Some of which are still scattered around Pine Island Sound and Charlotte Harbor today.  See Here.
